GATTAquant Team

Dr. Jürgen Schmied, Chief Executive Officer, schmied@gattaquant.com

Juergen-SchmiedAfter his diploma in physics in September 2010 Jürgen Schmied worked as PhD student in the “NanoBioSciences” Lab at the Technische Universität Braunschweig. There he focused on the further development of fluorescently labeled DNA origami structures to use them as nanoscopic rulers in super-resolution microscopy. Since September 2014 he is chief executive officer of the GATTAquant GmbH.

Dr. Carsten Forthmann, Head of Production and Software Development, forthmann@gattaquant.com

forthmannDuring his diploma thesis at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität of Munich (degree in December 2008), Carsten Forthmann developed and programmed a substantial software package for data analysis in super-resolution microscopy. After his PhD in the field of super-resolution imaging in May 2013 Carsten Forthmann changed to the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt and worked there until June 2014 as a scientist in the department of “Bild und Wellenoptik“. Since July 2014 he is responsible for the sector of production and software development

Dr. Florian Selbach, Sales Manager, selbach@gattaquant.com

selbach

Florian studied chemistry at the University of Duisburg-Essen and did his PhD in Sebastian Schlückers group about plasmonically active nanoparticle dimers for surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy. 2017 he moved to LMU Munich as postdoctoral researcher in the Tinnefeld lab. His main expertise is in synthesizing and functionalizing of plasmonic nanoparticles for various applications. Since December 2019 he joined the GATTAquant team and is responsible as sales manager.

Prof. Dr. Philip Tinnefeld, Mentoring, tinnefeld@gattaquant.com

tinnefeldPhilip Tinnefeld obtained his PhD in January 2002 at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität of Heidelberg in the field of single molecule spectroscopy. After postdoctoral stays in Los Angeles and Leuven, he worked on his habilitation at the University of Bielefeld. Afterwards he joined the physics department as associate professor of biophysics at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich and headed the group NanoBioSciences from 2010 to 2017 at Braunschweig University of Technology. In 2017, he returned to Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich as full professor of physical chemistry. Philip Tinnefeld is one of the world’s leading experts in DNA origami technology and especially in its application to the field of single molecule spectroscopy and microscopy. Since July 2014 he is consulting and mentoring the GATTAquant team.
